HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE! I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday.
This week, a short week, we are going to be working on being aware of the space around us. We will be doing this by using the scooters and playing scooter freeze tag. So far the students have really enjoyed this activity, and are really becoming aware of their surroundings. If students accidentally run into another person they are aware and do not want to do that again.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE! I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday.

Hello!
I apologize for the lack of posts here. I have forgotten about this blog, and I will continue to provide weekly "progress reports" from here on out. We have finished out fitness testing. I think the students really enjoyed it because they considered it a competition. Of course, the fitness testing was not a competition, but I will take any internal motivation to get the students to try their very best. Over the past couple of weeks we have started work with the scooters. These scooters are not the traditional scooters you would see out on sidewalks, but these are large pieces of very hard plastic with four wheels on the bottom and no handlebar. There are two handles on the side of the hard plastic that I require the students to hold on to for safety purposes. (Students who do not hold on to the handles could roll their fingers over). I am very pleased to inform you that a very good majority of students are beginning to be very respectful and have been listening very well! We are in our second week of fitness testing. Some classes are quicker than other, but that has nothing to do with the students rather it is me not being able to explain what they need to do in a way for the younger students to understand. The students seem to understand why this is important, but are confused why the previous gym teacher did not do this. I think they also really enjoy the competition, even though this is not a class competition. Whatever gets the students motivated works for me!
The younger students are working on games that involve cooperation and sharing. This has not gone so well, but we are getting better at it each day! |
AboutThis is where I inform you about what we have been doing in class, as well as updating you on the general behavior of the students. I will try to update this monthly or sooner if there are any new developments in the gymnasium. Archives
