About Gym Class and My Goals
My goals for this 2017-2018 school year are as follows I want to engage students with fun activities in hopes they will continue with these various activities so they may live a healthy life. Another goal for this year is that students will learn about respecting each other and the equipment we use in class. One of my biggest goals for this year and the following years is for students to learn how to cooperate with others, because this is a life skill that they will need to use for the rest of their lives.
I have various rules for gym class, and I expect each student to learn the rules and to follow them. Not following the rules leads to a destructive class and in turn does not foster learning. If students are not following the rules, they will be asked to sit out or if the entire class is not following the rules, the entire class will sit down for an undetermined time.
I like to think that gym class is a magical place where students can act a little crazy (within reason, of course) without getting in trouble. Students will learn about being a team player, having respect for people and equipment used in class, and how to play various sports and/or games/activities.

Who I Am |
Hello! My name is Brianna LaPeer. I just graduated from Western Michigan University in May of 2015. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Education with another Bachelors of Science in Health Education. This is my first teaching job, and I could not be happier about working with your students at Huron Academy.
Now to tell you a little bit more about myself I recently got married to the love of my life on January 6th, 2017. I enjoy reading when I am able to do so, and I love to cook and to bake. I don't get much time to do either, because I like to research new and fun games to teach and play with your students so class does not get too repetitive. My favorite sport to play is softball, but a close second is volleyball. Playing sports and being active has always been a part of my life, and I wanted to impact students in a way that I would be really good at, so I studied physical education and health education in hopes to get your students to live a healthy and active lifestyle. I am very excited to meet each and every one of your students, and look forward t getting to know them. |
Importance of Gym Class |
Many studies have concluded that there is a positive correlation between being physical active and having academic success. Gym, recess, and extracurricular physical activity is important for regular cognitive functioning. Physical activity should be a part of your students daily activities.
