I am not going to do a small report by each grade for last week. Look forward to sharing in more detail for this week.
I'm not sure what it is about walking into a large room with no desks, but it makes the students go crazy. I am all about having fun, but we cannot have as much fun when I constantly have to tell the class to be quiet. If we can get through directions with only a few interruptions (preferred), that is when we will be able to have the most fun in gym class. I am having to saw be quiet and listen multiple times within my explanation of the game, which should only last 3-5 minutes depending on the grade level.

Last week was my very first week teaching by myself. I am still have a very hard time learning names, and I can tell that the students are getting annoyed by that.
Kindergartens- We are still learning about what gym class is. This is still so very new to them, but we are making progress. First Grade- We're still learning, but I think that's only because the school year just started. Second Grade- We have had a hard time following directions and have had to sit out multiple times in class. Third Grade- It appears this is the grade where wanting to fight has come into play. No fights have broken out, thankfully. Fourth Grade- I have no had any issues with the fourth graders, I hope they keep that up. Fifth Grade- These students are getting the short end of the stick. These kids never see the gym/lunch room. We are either outside (not a bad thing) or in the classroom (not bad, but could be a lot better). We're going to make the best of it though. Sixth Grade- These students are at times my worst. I'm not sure if it's because they are the oldest students in the school, or that they are testing me. So far I have yet to be impressed with this grade, but I am sure things will change. |
AboutThis is where I inform you about what we have been doing in class, as well as updating you on the general behavior of the students. I will try to update this monthly or sooner if there are any new developments in the gymnasium. Archives
